Silverleaf Coatings Epoxy Flooring Process

When it comes to choosing new flooring systems for industrial use, garage floor coating, or any other outdoor surfaces, epoxy resin flooring truly stands out from other flooring options for many reasons.

Epoxy flooring – when applied properly by professionals – is highly durable, customizable, sustainable, and decorative for any surface. One of the most popular features of epoxy flooring is exceptional resistance to high levels of wear and tear, creating one of the most long-lasting flooring options available.

Epoxy flooring is a versatile chemical solution that is practical, long-lasting, highly resistant to impact, and customizable for any space. Whether you want a great looking garage floor, need an elegant entrance to a restaurant, or require an unyielding surface to withstand industrial work – the professional epoxy flooring experts at Silverleaf Coatings can provide an epoxy flooring application that is perfect for your space.

Our Process

  1. Diamond grinding preparation of concrete is the single most important part of process.
  2. Seal concrete with a 2-part epoxy resin base coat, based on color selection.
  3. Shark Grip additive used for slip-proofing
  4. Application of flakes based on selection if requested
  5. Apply clear coat

Are there different types of Epoxy Flooring?

100% Solids Two-Part Epoxy Coating

  • 100% paint base
  • Perfect for any environment, interior and exterior
  • Durability – These coatings are extremely tough and durable, thanks to their chemical composition. They resist scratches, abrasion, weathering, and damage from heavy vehicles without wearing down or chipping away like other types of flooring surfaces.
  • Resistance to Fumes – If you have allergies or chemical sensitivities, epoxy coatings are a great option because they emit low levels of fumes.
  • Safety – Epoxy flooring is also slip-resistant, which can be very important for both residential and commercial applications.
  • Appearance – These coatings provide an attractive, shiny finish that dramatically enhances the look of your room. Many types of epoxy coating are available in a variety of colors, allowing you to achieve the precise look you want for your space.
  • Environmentally Friendly – Epoxy coatings are made from environmentally friendly ingredients. They have a low VOC content and emit fewer fumes than other types of flooring, making them much safer for your family, guests, and employees.
  • Versatility – These coatings can be applied to a wide range of surfaces, including concrete, wood, tile, drywall, and more. As a result, epoxy coatings are extremely versatile and suitable for both residential and commercial applications.
  • Easy to clean, durable and protects
  • Most durable and can last up to 20 years

Polyaspartic Coating

  • Hybrid material that resembles polyurethane
  • Quick drying time
  • Two-part component product
  • Can be applied professionally in extreme temps
  • Requires moisture and porosity testing of the concrete
  • Smooth surface poses slipping risk
  • Won’t fade or yellow after extensive UV exposure
  • Usually more expensive than epoxy floor coatings

Solvent Based Epoxy Coating

  • Contain solids that range from 30% to 70%
  • Works as primer and sealer

One-Part Epoxy Coating

  • Ideal for new and uncoated concrete surfaces
  • Recommended for residential environments
  • They tend to be thin, difficult to work with and not a good idea when using color flakes.
  • The base coat is designed to be a little thinner to soak into the concrete
  • Doesn’t hold flakes well and we don’t want flakes displacing any of the coating.

Water-based Epoxy Coating

  • Water-based epoxy requires surface preparation and primer before application and must be brushed or rolled onto the concrete floor. Good for degreased areas
  • Spreads thinly and not very resistance
  • Can use as shield against abrasions, chemical reactions and stains
